Hi,

im on my third windowblind skin now, and have just skinned the "common tasks" (task panel), and when the skin is applied, it totally dissapears?
Its either all icons in window, or folders view. (yes, common tasks is on in folder options).

Its fine if i apply another skin, but gone when i apply the new one?

Please, any ideas?

Thx

Offica

Ya know, with so many members, you would expect a little more help in these forums.
It doesnt give us trying to add our "bit to the skinning community" much enthusiasm to keep plugging away with problems that are way beyond us just starting out.
Especially when this is the last place to come, after trying so hard yourself.

Well, after just about giving up, i sorted the problem.
I was using bmps' instead of tga files, and when applied, bingo, common tasks dissapears.

So, many thx for all the help (not) and i look forward to coming back to these forums for the great support.

This is my first post here, and I have this problem too.

I've found the WB-skin of my dreams, which is White flame 3.0 Vista perfection. But it moves the common tasks bar and places it at the bottom of the explorer window.

Is there any solution besides the one OP has come up with (not even sure it would help me at all)?

Please help, and thanks!

... Hm, the pic doesn't pop up for me, but it can be seen by right-clicking and choosing 'view image'.

The forums are user supported.  This means that the expert you need may not see your post.  Just bump it up and it may get seen and addressed.  No response may also mean that no one else has ever had your problem and can't help.  Again, a bump might get more attention.  It defineatly will work better than your second post.  That attitude won't help anything.

I'm glad you worked out your problem.  Thanks for posting yoru solution.  hopefully if someone else has the same problem, they'll find this post and be able to move on faster.

Thir13teen,  That's the way the skin was designed I think. Posting a link to the skin might help (I didn't see it at WC) . . but it may just be that the author wanted the Vista look and that's that.

Zubar, i had 10,000 hits in under 1 week,........................ i dont think i have "attitude" to ask a simple question, or to make it bumped.

I genually had a problem, and no reply. But the guy who had "i cant resize an icon" did.

What does that tell you?

It tells me no one knew the answer or the people that could have helped didn't see your post.
I thought your second post could have been more pleasant and that by being so you might get more help next time.

To a huge extent, these forums are open for folks to say what they want how they want to say it.  Oftentimes how they do it affects responses.  That's all I was trying to tell you.

In any case . . glad you fixed your problem. I hope you don't have many more.

I for one had read the post but couldnt offer any suggestions, as I have never encountered the issue. So I did not make a reply.

Thx,

im just saying, ANY response would be good, at least then you would know that its been looked at, and that its not a common problem.

Offi -

It's a matter of expectations. As has been pointed out, these forums are user-supported and there is a certain entropy or randomness to finding a solution to a particular problem - depends on someone who has previously encountered the problem or something similar seeing your post and having/taking the time to reply. People generally don't reply with "Can't help you." If I have nothing to offer, I usually leave the thread alone, this reply being an exception.

I sense also that you don't yet get what Zubaz was gently trying to tell you - a chip on your shoulder will pretty much guarantee that you get ignored or flamed. No one here owes you a reply. Common courtesy and patience will get you a lot farther and you will enjoy your experience here much more.

Thanks Daiwa, you were much clearer than I was.
